Last year, I named the astrology of 2024 “coming to the edge” an archetypal embodiment of transits like: Mars-Saturn in Pisces, Pluto’s final transit through Capricorn, the once in a decade Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, the Jupiter-Saturn square, and Mars retrograde opposite Pluto. When we think of an “edge” we might think of a threshold, something high up looking down below into the unknown and potentially down to the dark and dangerous. The edge is as far as we can possibly go in one particular state or reality. This year, we have seen the end of many things and the very tip top beginning of others. Whether you clung tightly to the edge or jumped off willingly, there was no stopping the edge's eventual retreat.
Part of “the edge” in my mind was also 2024’s association with the number 8 and the Strength card in tarot, this could’ve been a year where you were faced with genuine moments of hardship where you had to be “strong” but you likely also explored all of the quiet and unusual ways strength manifests: through love, acceptance, patience, and trust. It’s all been very David and Goliath. In 2025 we move away from the symbolic Strength year and into that of The Hermit.
The Hermit asks us to abandon an old way– this could be the path of glory and acclaim for some but it could also point to anything that was misaligned and particularly that which was a drain on health or vitality. This is often a lonely experience because it requires that we go a different way from our friends and family, at times they may not understand why we have to walk The Hermit’s path. Some examples of a hermit’s journey might include: sobriety, any project or course of study that requires full attention and focus, a commitment to health, dietary changes, spiritual exploration, celibacy, and foreign travel or immigration. And while I’m sure temptation could become a factor for anyone of the flesh, The Hermit is often so committed to this change that nothing and no one can sway him, this is not often something that has to be forced because he is willingly walking away from his past. He is shaken and transformed for good, this is the kind of year we are stepping into. Perhaps you've already had or are in the process of embracing this cumulative experience of epiphany and abandoning something that was misaligned.
Just as the Strength year had its clarifying transits, the Hermit year has its own and they are absolutely stunning in symbolism. Here's what we can expect in 2025.
The Outer Planets:
Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto
One of the most important changes between 2024 and 2025 are the outer and transpersonal planetary ingresses. Pluto finally ingressed Aquarius “for good” (until 2043) on November 19th 2024 and now Neptune and Uranus are following suit. These are our zeitgeist planets that inform the spirit of the times and are remarkably connected with historical movements, periods, revolutions, and generational fate. In some ways, it is all too big to truly comprehend the transition we are stepping into.
Uranus, who spends about 7 years in each sign, has been in Taurus since 2018 and will make its first appearance in Gemini from July 7th through November 7th 2025 where we will get our first preview of the transit. This planet is associated with epiphany, radicalism, sudden changes, invention, science, and discovery. Neptune is also making its ingress this year into Aries after being in Pisces since 2011. Neptune is the planet associated with spirituality, dreams, projection, idealism, the dissolution of boundaries, altered states of awareness, collective consciousness, subconscious, and the unconscious. Neptune also tends to correlate specifically with water, confusion, secrets, and collective illness. It averages just over 13 years in each zodiac sign and has not been in Aries since 1861. This ingress will begin a whole new cycle as it enters the very first sign of the zodiacal wheel, staying in a tight conjunction with Saturn who is beginning its own fresh cycle.
Saturn and Jupiter
This brings us to the two traditional outer planets that will make their own ingressions. As mentioned Saturn will ingress Aries, the sign of its fall, from May 25th until September 1st for this first preview and Jupiter will ingress Cancer, the sign of its exaltation, on June 9th remaining there uninterrupted until July 1st 2026. These two are our “social” planets, the ones that dictate society and the popular (i.e. relevant) culture, politics, and social consequences or causes of behavior. This is where we will have our third and final Jupiter-Saturn square at 1º Aries-Cancer as Saturn is conjoined with Neptune on June 15th. A big theme of this triplicate of squares has been “the start of something new” and all of the resistance, difficulty, discovery, and changes that follow. Adding in a Saturn-Neptune conjunction to the squares that have already been building a story, along with the switch to the cardinal modality, will only exacerbate the dissolution of the “old world” and all of the things that used to make sense within it. It’s likely that we will look back at this time as a watershed year where significant personal and global transitions were made– it's not every year that we have all five outer planets enter new signs all within months of each other, this signifies several new storylines all being set into motion at once.
Anytime we have transits through Aries, we are dealing with genesis, an origin story. This year will likely feel akin to the birthing process, much like how The Hermit is reborn through realization. Some kind of awakening is taking place and while I deeply hope it’s like, class consciousness– among other progressive hopes– it is more likely to revolve around collective disappointments acting as a catalyst to dissolve any illusions that were ultimately blinding us from some reality. Aries is about war, independence, and selfhood that we develop as a means of survival. This will become necessary as other kinds of support systems fail, resulting in a kind of autonomy that is much more sustainable. It’s a slow process though, Saturn alone takes about three years to complete its transit through one sign, Neptune’s transit won’t complete until 2039, and their exact conjunction won't perfect until 2026. All of this being said, this mix of Saturn and Neptune can also bring in the struggle of confusion, a time that is not easily simplified or understood.
Not only are the ingressions of the outer planets important, but there are quite a few energetic crescendos and decrescendos surrounding these transitions. One that comes to mind is the North Node-Saturn-Neptune pile up in Pisces– a true indicator that something big is being dismantled– as both Venus and Mercury are also undergoing their retrograde cycles between Pisces and Aries all in March and April of 2025. It’s remarkable how the planets are uniting here, all simultaneously reckoning with something and rebirthing themselves at once. We see other synchronous transits here too, like the Mars retrograde in Cancer and Leo that has been setting up Jupiter’s ingress to Cancer and has been opposing the transition of Pluto in Capricorn as it settles into Aquarius. It is all great cosmic preparation for something that, so far, we’re still squinting and straining to see clearly. Something is coming but between multiple laborious retrogrades and Neptune’s involvement, it’s still quite hazy. We can only rely on the general themes of these transits to guide us.
Tldr: When we have planetary ingressions, it means that brand new stories are beginning. 2025 is setting off these new storylines in several areas of our lives that will be relevant for years to come.
Archetypes at play
In the future I’d like to talk more about the specific themes we’ll be seeing with Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Aries, and Pluto in Aquarius. For now:
Consider the recent history of the Gemini-Aquarius trine and how Nodal, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter transits have all been preparing us for the Uranus in Gemini ingress– looking back at August of 2021 where Saturn in Aquarius and the North Node in Gemini were within 1º of each other may translate relevant themes now to a much larger scale.
Consider the archetype of Pluto (demolition, obsession, crisis) and how that will lead to the dismantling of Aquarian themes (community, technology, humanity) as they exist now.
Consider that Neptune’s last ingress to Aries was in 1861 i.e. the start of the American Civil War, a time that was largely about the economics and decline of global slave trade and the first industrial wars. We are now entering a new time with new kinds of wars never seen before as we are ripped away from the proverbial womb, growing legs of our own and intent on actually using them.
The Nodes & Eclipses
A good understanding of the nodes and eclipses can tell us a lot about the general focus in our lives over an 18 month period. This doesn’t discount the rest of the transits or give us the full story by any means, but it does often offer us a baseline for prediction and fated moments.
The North and South Nodes moved into Aries and Libra respectively on July 17th 2023 and are now moving into Pisces and Virgo on January 11th 2025. Globally, the most notable events during this transit have been the initial attack of Hamas and the ongoing genocide in Gaza along with protests and boycotts in response to those supporting Israel. The media has also closely followed Trump’s criminal trial and the build to the presidential election, the response to the election has been true to the Aries theme of anger and attack from all parties as many now fear for their rights (SN in Libra). More personally, the last year and half has largely been about forging a new path and emptying out relationship dynamics and other karmic imbalances that take us away from the self and its needs. We’ve seen many break ups, divorces, and other kinds of relational strife. A greater focus on independence and putting self first in all matters, but especially where Aries falls in the natal chart, despite the protests of those who benefitted from a previously imbalanced relationship. This has been quite a challenge as the nodes are inherently malefic and devouring acting as integral points in the annular eclipses, known as harbingers of conflict and turning points.
Now, the North Node is moving into Pisces and the South Node into Virgo, signs that are known to be associated with health of all kinds– mental and physical– the known and the unknown, sacrifice, spiritual grapplings, order and disorder, as well as things like craftsmanship and artistry, perfectionism or carelessness. These signs are the left brain and right brain. The last time the nodes were in these signs was from November 2015- May 2017 when the North Node was in Virgo and the South Node in Pisces, that time may be relevant to the upcoming nodal cycle with mirrored but inverted purpose. That was also the last time we had Saturn in a Jupiter ruled sign and Jupiter moving from a mutable Mercurial sign to a cardinal sign in a Jupiter-Saturn square. I went over some of the events that happened in those years in a previous article, one of the most notable similarities to what we can already see repeating itself in 2025 is the re-election of Trump.
Our 2025 eclipses:
March 13th: the Lunar Eclipse at 23º Virgo
March 29th: Solar Eclipse at 9º Aries
September 7th: Lunar Eclipse at 15º Pisces
September 21st: Solar Eclipse at 29º Virgo
The Inner Planets:
Mars retrograde
We’ve already begun the Mars retrograde journey in 2024 and will be reviewing the final three months of the year at the start of 2025. Here is a brief summary of what we’ve been through so far:
Mars was direct in Cancer and within its pre-shadow period beginning on October 5th, hitting its first opposition with Pluto in Capricorn at its final degree on November 3rd. Mars then moved into Leo on the 3rd stationing retrograde a month later on December 6th of 2024, has since made its opposition to Venus on December 12th reaching the climax of the cycle that began in February of 2024, and is now headed toward its second opposition to Pluto on January 2nd.
Mars retrograde, particularly in the pre-shadow, is a time where we are often faced with a lack of purpose or direction and are required to turn inward to re-discover our intrinsic motivations and updated ethos in the area that Mars travels. This can be so frustrating and taxing as we also re-examine energy levels, burn out, and stored anger that might be trying to tell us something important about our needs. Passion, desire, and survival as well as obsession, metaphorical deaths, and crisis presented by the opposition from Pluto all become relevant now. From December 6th 2024 to January 6th 2025, Mars is in Leo drawing upon our desire to be seen, recognized, validated, and heard but it can also call up our relationship to creativity, childhood, and all that shapes personal identity. It’s likely that something about this has changed and is asking us to pivot in approach to allow for new aspects of the inner child to come forth into the world of expression.
Once Mars retrograde re-enters Cancer on January 6th, it will stay there through the direct station on February 23rd until it re-enters Leo on April 17th, not leaving its post-shadow period until May 3rd. Mars retrograde in Cancer provides nuance to some of these themes already discussed and expands to include the re-examination of home, family, where we provide emotional labor for ourselves and others, the nest built around the things that matter most to us and actually– what does matter most of all? Mars is in its fall when it’s in Cancer, there is an abundance of wisdom held in the struggle of suppressed emotion that all comes to the surface now. This is another step in dismantling the widely accepted enmeshment and reliance found in the family, in the home, and even within those we unknowingly parentify through codependence and caretaking.
The new world presented by the outer planets is now internalized by the inner planets activating personal experiences to trigger the change necessary to thrive in the future. Part of this may be a sort of “conscious uncoupling” from outdated definitions of love and care. This is a very deep and dynamic transit that pushes Mars to explore a pool of emotion behind its temper, its exhaustion, and the obstacles it faces now. It is certainly not easy, but many are likely to emerge from the transit with new intentions as they come home to their true needs and desires. Personally, I find the post-shadow period of a Mars retrograde to be the most invigorating part; this is where any physical information shaken loose from the transit is now finally clear and actionable.
Important Mars retrograde dates:
• January 2nd: the second Mars-Pluto opposition
• January 15th: the Sun-Mars rx opposition, the “turning point” in the retrograde
• February 23rd: Mars stations direct at 17º Cancer
• March 7th: the Sun-Mars trine, newfound direction & conclusions
• April 17th: Mars enters Leo
• April 16th: Final Mars-Pluto opposition
• May 3rd: Mars passes its station degree completing the cycle
Venus retrograde
Mars retrograde seems to be quite integral to the Venus retrograde this year, here is what I am noticing:
Right as Mars stationed retrograde in December, we had the Venus-Mars opposition on December 12th indicative of the climax point in the cycle from their conjunction in February of 2024 in Aquarius to their next one in January of 2026 in Capricorn.
Mars spends part of its retrograde in Leo which is the sign that Venus retrogressed last in July and August of 2023 and is likely bringing back themes from that story. These retrogrades have been supportive agents of transition for Pluto in Aquarius.
Venus will enter its pre-shadow period on January 27th at 24º Pisces before Mars has stationed direct, automatically making Mars retrograde a part of the Venus retrograde story.
While Mars retrograde focuses on repressed anger, lack of direction, and how one’s energy is being used, there are some similarities and joint themes explored in both retrogrades. Venus and Mars together grapple with the concept of desire and especially while Venus is in her most profane state. This retrogression focuses on the journey to the underworld of repressed desire and explores themes of morality, love, value, resource, and a robust range of Venusian qualities from social conformity to natural inclination. This is very different from Mars and his approach to desire as a means of fuel and motivation. Venusian desire is often hidden behind principle, hierarchy, and personal or collective values. Here, what one “desires” is not always appropriate, moral, or worth it. The Venus cycle has beautiful quinary symbolism determined by the “rose” shape of inconjunctions from one retrograde to the next that describes a battle with jealousy, comparison, loneliness, and worthiness that ultimately teach a lesson about our flaws or weaknesses and help us to develop a solid understanding of what our standards and values are in a particular area dictated by the sign and planets that color the retrograde.
When Venus is retrograde she is acting differently than usual and this can blur these lines between planetary themes and we can see that this year, it is acting as a tether between the two overlapping retrogrades. We will likely emerge with a newfound understanding for what we want and why we want it that was previously disorganized, stagnant, or subconscious before this kind of internalization. Furthermore, this Venus retrograde will go through two signs, 10º Aries to 24º Pisces where Saturn and Neptune will transition in the spring and is making conjunctions to the North Node before, during, and after the retrograde. The Venus retrograde conjoining the North Node does look rough and hungry, but whatever reflections come as a result will allow for the shift towards destiny that coincides with the eclipse cycles.
Important dates for Venus retrograde:
Pre-retrograde:
January 27th: Venus enters its pre-shadow period at 24º Pisces
February 1st: Venus conjunct Neptune and the North Node
February 3rd: Venus enters Aries
February 23rd: Mars stations direct
Retrograde:
March 1st: Venus stations rx at 10º Aries
March 13th: Lunar eclipse in Virgo 23º
March 14th - April 7th: Mercury is retrograde from 9º Aries to 26º Pisces
March 22nd: Venus cazimi at 2º Aries
March 27th: Venus rx re-enters Pisces conjunct Neptune
March 29th: Solar eclipse in Aries 9º
April 1st: Venus rx conjunct the North Node
April 7th: Venus rx conjunct Saturn
Post-retrograde
April 12th: Venus stations direct at 24º Pisces // Full Moon in Libra 23º
April 23rd: Venus conjunct the North Node
April 30th: Venus re-enters Aries
May 2nd: Venus conjunct Neptune
May 3rd: Mars passes its station degree
May 15th: Venus passes its station degree
May 25th: Saturn enters Aries
You’ll notice I have included some other planets here that are ingressing and completing their own retrograde cycles as I find them relevant to this Venus retrograde. Venus seems to be a cosmic tool working on the transition of the outer planets along with Mercury who often aids in the transition of Venus and Mars. The Aries and Pisces sector are getting a lot of attention this year, something significant is being simultaneously dismantled and built all at once. As much as there is a natural apprehension towards transits like these, it’s impossible not to be curious and hopeful for positive change too.
Mercury retrograde
2024’s Mercury retrogrades went through the fire signs, Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. This was significant as Mercury has not retrogressed in fire signs since 2018 and in my opinion, these reviews have been much needed to repair and restore identity and motivation in these houses through Mercury’s typical use of perspective and information after a 6 year break. In 2025, we will have retrogrades once again in these signs, still working on similar themes from 2024 but now incorporating two of the water signs, Pisces and Scorpio. The last time Mercury retrogressed in water signs was in 2020 marking the transition back into air signs and foreshadowing 2021. In 2026, we will have Mercury retrograde in all three of the water signs now including Cancer, the themes touched on this year may give us a preview for 2026.
When we have retrogrades that pass through two signs and elements, we feel more disoriented, but it also tends to examine how one sign builds to the other as well as how one house sets the foundation for the next. This ability to go backwards allows for foundations to strengthen through a kind of "software update" of the mind.
2025’s dates:
March 14th to April 7th: Mercury is retrograde from 9º Aries to 26º Pisces
July 17th to August 11th: Mercury is retrograde from 15º-4º Leo
November 9th- 29th: Mercury is retrograde from 6º Sag - 20º Scorpio
For your reflection, 2020’s dates:
February 17th-March 10th: Mercury was retrograde from 12º Pisces to 28º Aquarius
June 18th-July 12th: Mercury was retrograde from 14º-5º Cancer
October 14th-November 3rd: Mercury was retrograde from 11º Scorpio to 25º Libra
Additional aspects & transits to keep an eye on
Mars in Virgo
On June 17th, Mars will ingress Virgo marking the true end to Mars retrograde because even while Mars moves past its station degree in May, it's still in Leo until June continuing a new and evolved story with old themes. We don't quite escape review in the Leo sector of the chart though, Mars in Virgo will be ruled by Mercury in Leo who will station retrograde from July 17th to August 11th; all of this work on the Leo archetype is likely preparing us for 2026's Jupiter in Leo transit.
Another notable aspect is the conjunction that Mars will make to the South Node on July 20th. This is typically a difficult transit that requires us to clear out something physically or energetically and is known to be draining. Certain signs and planets hit the individual chart differently, but this is a transit I'm bookmarking as a "health transit"– health in all things will be of priority this summer and in a post-pandemic world along with the beginning cases of bird flu– it's something to be conscientious of. This aspect will undeniably drive home the themes of the Nodal transit.
The Final Jupiter-Saturn square
Jupiter has been squaring Saturn for about a year at this point, but has made exact hits on August 19th 2024, December 24th 2024, and now finally on June 15th 2025. The first two squares were between a mutable Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Gemini which will contrast with the final square between a cardinal Saturn in Aries and Jupiter in Cancer. The mutable modality is about fluctuation and flexibility while the cardinal modality emphasizes initiation and activation. In 2024, many were faced with turning points and transition that brought about new perspectives (Jupiter in Gemini) but were also challenged by heavier limitations of the past (Saturn in Pisces). The first square in August happened during a Mercury retrograde along with additional challenges from Mars in Gemini and Venus in Virgo, indicating that something about the story in August was ripe with pressure and was ultimately temporary (symbolized by Mercury rx) and in need of more adjustment and observation.
The second square in December of 2024 was still between the same signs, but took place in a Mercury in Sagittarius post shadow period. This is still creating a mutable t-square, but this time, Mercury is mutually received by Jupiter and is not facing nearly as much challenge from Mars and Venus. A post retrograde Mercury usually indicates that we have transformed our perspective in some way and this is exactly what Jupiter in Gemini wants for us. This is a time where life jackets may appear, but these transitions and turning points are still not quite over.
The final square between Jupiter and Saturn will be in their new signs within the cardinal modality just after their ingressions on June 15th. This time, Saturn is conjunct Neptune but there are no t-squares (at least not yet). This is where we can expect the final form built from the series of squares from the last year, all of the tension and change finally culminating in something that resembles a new direction. This is all connected to the Aquarian sector of the chart as 2020's Jupiter-Saturn conjunction (the foundation of these squares) took place in this sign, whatever conflict and change you've seen during this triplicate of squares has likely been a result of the evolution that is currently taking place in the house ruled by Aquarius. On a global scale, we can also see the cultural and political changes we've been seeing have correlated with the massive upheavals that began in 2020.
This final square is yet, another way, that 2024 is echoed and redeveloped in 2025.
Mars opposite Saturn-Neptune square Jupiter
One hot spot of 2025 that I’d like to point out far in advance is the cardinal t-square featured in August and September. Mars will ingress Libra on August 6th, will make an opposition to the Saturn-Neptune conjunction at 1º Aries on August 8th-9th, and will then go on to square Jupiter on September 4th. Luckily the aspects from Mars won’t exact all at once, making it a loose t-square, but it will stay close enough to Jupiter that we will feel its looming presence even through the typically celebrated Venus-Jupiter conjunction on August 11th.
Things to consider: Essential dignity becomes important when interpreting transits like these. When Saturn is in Aries, this is Saturn’s “fall” sign where it struggles deeply to eventually gain profound wisdom. Mars is detriment in Libra where it has to express itself unconventionally as Venusian territory presents barriers and challenges to the nature of Mars. Meanwhile, Jupiter exalts in Cancer where it experiences an abundance of resources as the sign is complementary to Jupiter's nature. As it also conjoins Venus in its own triplicity, the benefics are beautiful and powerful this summer… if only it weren’t for such affliction from the malefics!
Since Mars moves faster than both Jupiter and Saturn, when it comes into contact with these larger stories, it tends to act as a point of immediate catalyst or crisis. Collectively, it’s safe to say that we’ll be dealing with something difficult on the Aries-Libra axis in our personal charts that is likely to be on theme with injustice, imbalance, and the previously discussed disillusionment that Saturn-Neptune brings– and in Aries– around some rebirth of collective and personal identity. The last time we had a Mars-Saturn opposition was on July 20th of 2023 on the Virgo-Pisces axis, looking back may help understand the nature of this transit. This time though, we can look to Venus ruling the initial Mars-Saturn opposition and conjoining an exalted Jupiter for help here in the form of lunar wisdom, knowledge, and comfort. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, but it’s one of the more important aspects of the year.
Saturn retrograde
Saturn is only giving us a 3 month preview of its transit through Aries this year. Here are the dates:
• May 25th: Saturn's first ingress to Aries
• July 12th: Stations retrograde at 1º Aries
• September 1st: Retrogresses back to Pisces
• November 27th: Saturn direct at 25º Pisces
Neptune will follow suit and retrogress into Pisces on October 22nd and station direct on December 10th, this switch between Saturn-Neptune in Aries and back into Pisces will emphasize things that still need to be finished once and for all before stepping into the beginning that's forming. Additionally, Summer of 2025 will foreshadow what we'll be working on until April of 2028 when Saturn finally completes its transit through Aries and moves into Taurus. Saturn being the greater malefic tends to represent our deep seated long term struggles where we confront delay and limitation, though this is more obvious for those with night charts, of course.
Saturn in Pisces has remarkably correlated with grief, feeling lost or stuck in the past, difficulty with boundaries as well as faith. It has brought out both the consequences and delinquency around substance abuse, and has intensified the collective grapple with physical and mental illness. Overall, these themes focus on a struggle with endings– the ending of life, what happens when the party is over, the unknown, all leading to profound revelations and moments of surrender that either affirm or reaffirm integral truths about life or a personal version of "god" (insert: happiness, love, fulfillment, etc.).
Saturn in Aries on the other hand, will focus on the struggle of beginning. The difficulty that accompanies being the first, doing something that has not been done before. The doubt, hesitation, and limitation that clouds novelty. It reminds me very much of the fool on the hill, the new kid at school, the first and oldest child, the proverbial guinea pig. Aries being a Mars ruled sign is also speaking to the suppression of anger or alternatively, the consequences of anger when not acknowledged or obliviousness to anger and its relation to injustice. It's no coincidence that just before Saturn makes its first ingress, Mars has just stationed direct and passed its station degree leaving us with a new perspective and approach to its planet's themes. It will be a much longer journey to sustain these newly realized motivations and of course, Aries does struggle to sustain.
Mars in Leo and Virgo ruling Saturn's first entrance into Aries is something to take notice of as the next Mars retrograde will be in both of these signs while Saturn is torso deep in its transit through Aries. Mars will begin its retrograde at 10º Virgo in January 2027 and station direct at 20º Leo in April of 2027. Not only is 2025 Saturn's preview year for the transit as a whole, but evidently for the next Mars retrograde cycle as well.
Saturn will finally leave Pisces and fully settle into Aries on February 15th of 2026. In the meantime, we are still finishing our last chapter of the ongoing story that began March 7th of 2023 with Saturn's ingress to Pisces.
Uranus retrograde & aspects
Uranus will ingress Gemini for the first time this year as well, here are some key dates for this transit:
• July 7th: Uranus ingresses Gemini
• September 5th: Uranus stations retrograde at 1º Gemini
• November 7th: Uranus retrogress into Taurus
Next year:
• February 3rd 2026: Uranus stations direct at 27º Taurus
• April 27th 2026: Uranus ingresses Gemini staying until 2033
As discussed, Uranus in Gemini is an important outer planet player as it will trine Pluto and sextile the Saturn-Neptune conjunction aiding in the birth of a larger era. However, Uranus will also make aspects to the inner planets towards the end of the year, shaping this transit on a personal level, and giving us a preview into the next 7 years in the Gemini sector of the chart.
First we see the summer's Mercury retrograde in Leo entering its pre-shadow on June 29th just days before the Uranus ingress. Since Mercury is Gemini's ruler, we can see that we have yet another retrograde planet helping us transition and open up perspective in order to properly induct an outer planet transit into our lives. The Leo sector of our charts is likely to give context to any first surprises or storylines that Uranus in Gemini presents. The first hard aspect we see to Uranus is at the first New Moon in Virgo on August 22nd, the Sun and Moon will be just 1º away from an exact square to Uranus as they all answer to a post shadow Mercury in Leo. This is all happening at the same time as the cardinal t-square between Mars, Jupiter-Venus, and Saturn-Neptune– August of 2025 is to be one of the more significant months of the year.
Uranus will then receive a square from Venus in Virgo on September 20th just before the Solar Eclipse in Virgo, eclipses are naturally times of dramatic turns and Uranus is making its own contribution. Then, as planets begin moving into Sagittarius, Uranus in Gemini will receive its first oppositions. Mercury in Sagittarius will oppose Uranus on October 29th, then Mars in Sagittarius on November 4th right before Uranus retrogresses back into Taurus. Oppositions are notable because of their "full moon" like quality, this is when one might feel pulled in a different direction or is pushed into one by external events. Mars-Uranus is one in particular that might loosen unexpected action from oneself or from the environment.
Uranus will re-enter Taurus before the New and Full Moons in Gemini and Sagittarius and is instead present for the New Moon Mercury cazimi at 28º Scorpio and will oppose at 29º Taurus. This will emphasize the storyline that we've been living collectively since Spring of 2018 when Uranus first ingressed Taurus. We've been going through a process of revolutionizing this axis in our charts, it's been ripe with epiphanies and radical change surrounding security, value, resources, tradition (among other things) and how they relate to personal house themes. This is setting off a final six month period, tying up loose ends and eventually closing this 7 year chapter of our lives in April of 2026. Profound revelations are possible around this New Moon on November 19th.
Our next Venus-Mars conjunction
At the very end of the year, we have Venus and Mars in Capricorn, Mars ingresses first on December 15th and Venus follows on the 24th. These two are making their way to a conjunction on January 7th of 2026 at 18º Capricorn. The Sun will be within 1º of the conjunction making this a Venus-Mars cazimi with Mercury not far behind them. Without going into too much detail, as this is next year's beast after all, this is something we will begin to feel in the final month of 2025 and may recall the last Venus-Mars opposition that occurred on December 12th 2024 when Mars was retrograde. These conjunctions and oppositions each carry each other to the next aspect and are indicators of both relational unions and partings as well as beginnings and climaxes of any kind of creative and collaborative projects. It's far out, but one to keep in your calendar.
Discussing an entire calendar year does set one up for writing a book! Nevertheless, if you made it this far, I thank you for reading and can't wait to spend another year marveling over the stars with you. Much love and happy new year!
Your friendly neighborhood astrologer,
Katie
